DOG WALKING

I will walk your dog for 25-30 minutes and the walk will begin at your selected time, or within your selected two hour window (i.e. 11a- 1p, 12n-2p, etc...); on average 1.5 miles.

For dogs that require a bit more exercise, there is a 60 minute option; on average 3.2 miles.

If your dog does not require much exercise, I offer a 15-minute "Potty Break" option. This is simply to get your dog outside to do his or her business; on average 0.5 miles.

Upon return, I will check the level of his or her water and, if requested, feed them as well.

Belly rubs, kisses, and butt scratches are provided free of charge.

Two Hour Window

WORKDAY DAYCARE

If your dog is in need of a pal to play with while you are away at work, I offer the option of staying at my apartment and playing with Rory (& possibly others) during weekday business hours.

Pick-up & drop off provided free of additional charge for dogs that live within 0.5 miles of my building. Anything farther is negotiable.

My goal is to one day open a local storefront dog daycare & recreation facility, but for now this provides a cost-effective option for those who have guilt about their dog being home alone while they are away at work.

Weekday Daycare

Pick-up 6a-9a | Drop-off 5p-7pm $40.00

BOARDING

Your dog will stay with Rory & I for the duration of your time away. He or she will be walked 4x per day, fed as instructed, and showered with kisses & cuddles. Updates will be sent daily, and video feed access will be provided. Pick-up & drop-off provided free of additional charge for dogs that live within 0.5 miles of my building. Anything farther is negotiable.

Boarding (& daycare) is available for pre-approved dogs only. We can arrange a meet & greet ahead of any stay to get your dog on the pre-approved list. Please contact me to arrange a free M&G (usually takes 15-20 minutes of introducing the dogs and answering any questions). Only one dog boarding at a time, unless all owners involved have approved a multi-dog stay.

CONTACT
  • Within what area do you accept dog walking clients?
It's possible we can work something out on a case by case basis, but the area I tend to stay in is north of Diversey, South of Addison, and East of Clark/Sheffield.
  • What is your payment policy?
All payments are due within 24 hours of service completion. Venmo/Paypal payments to @PeggyBball, cash, and personal check will be accepted. I do not have a CC swiper, but will aquire one if the demand for such a payment option is high.
  • What if I have a second dog? Is there a group rate?
There is a $5.00 fee per each additional dog, so a 30 minute two-dog walk with the 2-hour window option would be $20.00 (the fee for 60 minute walks or daycare stays is $10.00 per each additional dog). If you happen to have a neighbor dog in your building that you'd like to have walked along side your dog, we can work out a deal where I will charge the same rate as if they lived in the same apartment. It's another cost effective way to have both dogs looked after while the owners are away. Also, please contact me to work out a group rate for dogs-buddies that may not live in the same building, but live nearby one another. I'm always happy to do what I can to accomodate.
  • Haven't I seen you on the Wag! & Rover apps??
Yes, you have. Don't knock the hustle; think of it as someone who drives for Lyft while trying to get their private chauffeur service company off the ground. I am not allowed to approach any Wag! or Rover clients regarding Chicago Barks & Rec, nor will I ever be the 1st to mention it as that would be considered poaching and grounds for termination from the application platforms. However, if a client were to approach me about private walks, that is permitted.
  • Are there any referral incentives?
Why, yes! If you refer a client, you will recieve a free 30 minute walk after they complete either a 2+ night stay or 5 paid 30 minute walks. Should they become a regular, your dogs will recieve a special adventure day (3-4 hours of TBD activity) for free annually for as long as both clients are regulars. Alternate incentives will be made available sporadically. Keep an eye out for them!
  • How do I get my dog "pre-approved"?"
Please text me at 1-630-841-6760 to arrange a free meet and greet. They usually take about 15-20 minutes and consist of introducing your dog to Rory, making sure they get along, and answering any questions you might have. Proof of up-to-date vaccinations will also be required before a dog may stay with us. Once these steps have been met, your dog will be clear to stay with Rory & I for either daycare or boarding purposes. (*Chicago Barks and Recreation reserves the right to refuse service to dogs that show aggressive, distructive, or overly vocal tendancies. Dogs that are not up to date on their vaccinations or are visably showing signs of illness will also be turned away from daycare or boarding services.)
  • What is your cancellation policy?
There is no cancellation fee if a walk is cancelled more than 24 hours ahead of time. Any walk cancelled with less than 24 hours notice is subject to a $5.00 cancellation fee. Same rule applies for daycare stays. There is a flat $20 cancellation fee if a Boarding stay is cancelled at any point after confirmation.
  • What days are considered Boarding "Holidays"?"
New Years Day Super Bowl Sunday The First 2 days of the NCAA March Madness Tournament (yes, seriously) Memorial Day Independence Day Labor Day Thanksgiving Christmas Eve Christmas Day *Nearest weekends are included in the Holiday rate category for any Holidays that do not fall on either a Tuesday or a Wednesday. For instance, Memorial day is on a Monday, but the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend will also be considered "Holiday Rate". Same goes for the weekend after Thanksgiving, etc...
  • You take great dog photos! Will you do a photo session with my dog?
$75.00 for a two to three hour session. I will walk your dog around the neighborhood and get cute photos in front of murals, Wrigley Field, the lakefront, the skyline, etc... Nothing too fancy, it will all be via my phone, but you'll have at least 50 frame-worthy digital photos when we're done! Please see the happy client photos above - they were all taken on my phone.
  • What are "Topic Tournaments"??"
Glad you asked! I wanted to call it Bracket Battles, but someone already claimed that name. I am a big fan of March Madness (see: Holidays), and a few years back while bartending, I decided to come up with an alterative bracket for non-sports fans - give them something to debate and discuss while others watched basketball. People seemed to enjoy it, so I kept coming up with a new topic every year. When I created this site, I wanted to add a fun interactive element (that could potentially drive traffic to the site and help increase buisness. Lofty asparation, I grant you), and taking the bracket online seemed like a good solution. Hopefully, I'll be able to improve upon the technology as we go, but for now, I'm gonna try to have a new topic monthly, if not weekly. The frequency will depend on popularity, but I hope you have fun with it! Feel free to submit topic suggestions!
  • What are Slee-paw-ay Parties?
Once in a while, I will offer to host a Slee|paw|ay Party. This will be a discounted Friday or Saturday evening where every pre-approved dog is welcome to stay the night for $20 each. Dogs must RSVP for these parties due to limited space. As much as I would LOVE to have 20 dogs in my apartment at once, it's not quite realistic. Make it a date night, go catch a concert, do something fun without having to worry about rushing home to get the dog outside. All dogs will all go for walks two at a time both at night and in the morning, and you'll be able to check in on all the fun via the video feed. Stay tuned for those events to pop up.
  • When will you open up the storefront daycare facility?
The storefront facility is my long term goal. I need to build up my clientele (and my savings account, if we're being honest) first. Hopefully, in a few years, the demand will be there to ensure a successful venture that benefits both clients and employees. I also hope to make it a handicap friendly work facility. One where my brother and others like him with autism can find meaningful employment.
  • Why does the video feed require a different password everyday?
(1st I need to buy the video equipment. With any luck, that will happen in the next few months) Mostly for my peace of mind. I don't like feeling that I am constantly being watched, or being the unwitting star of some Truman Show-esque or EDtv type viewing for a complete stranger who happened upon the site. So, the feed is only available to clients and I change the password everyday. I will only give the current password out to those who have a dog staying with me. Also, as soon as I am able to figure out the technology behind it, viewing time will be limited to an hour a day, which can be used in smaller incriments. If an owner would like access to the feed for longer than an hour a day, they will incur a small micromanagement fee to reopen access. Though again, not until I figure out the technology to make it happen.
